About
BEYA (Berkeley Engineering Youth Academy) is an intensive hybrid program where students begin with online instruction on engineering fundamentals, then join in-person classes and labs at UC Berkeley to work on hands-on projects including CAD design, 3D printing, wind tunnel testing, and robotics. Participants get a taste of college life through campus housing, meals, and interaction with mentors at the College of Engineering, culminating in a final showcase of their prototypes.
What you'll get
- —Hands-on engineering project experience focused on design, robotics, and 3D printing
- —7.5 hours of online training in CAD basics and manufacturing tools
- —3-week in-person sessions on the UC Berkeley campus with labs and prototyping
- —Opportunity to build and showcase your own prototype
- —Interaction with undergrad/graduate mentors and industry visits
- —Immersive college experience with campus dorm living and activities
- —Networking with like-minded peers from around the world
Eligibility
High school students (typically ages 15+) with an interest in STEM fields and some prior coursework in math/science.
