UCSB Research Mentorship Program 2026

UCSB’s Research Mentorship Program (RMP) places qualified high school scholars in immersive, mentored research projects across a wide range of academic disciplines. Participants begin with a virtual component, then transition to intensive in‑person research on the UCSB campus where they work closely with their mentor, conduct field or laboratory work, and learn advanced research techniques. Students also take integrated research courses, earn college credit, and present their findings at a formal closing symposium. The experience includes academic workshops, community events, and residential or commuter living options, providing a holistic summer research opportunity.

High school students (typically 10th or 11th grade, exceptional 9th graders considered) with a strong academic record (minimum ~3.8 GPA) and willingness to commit to the full program.
