## About

UCSB’s Research Mentorship Program (RMP) places qualified high school scholars in immersive, mentored research projects across a wide range of academic disciplines. Participants begin with a virtual component, then transition to intensive in‑person research on the UCSB campus where they work closely with their mentor, conduct field or laboratory work, and learn advanced research techniques. Students also take integrated research courses, earn college credit, and present their findings at a formal closing symposium. The experience includes academic workshops, community events, and residential or commuter living options, providing a holistic summer research opportunity.

## What you'll get

- Hands‑on, university‑level research with a faculty, postdoc, or grad student mentor
- Interdisciplinary project experience across STEM, humanities, social sciences and more
- Virtual preparation component before in‑person research
- Opportunity to present research findings at a formal symposium
- College credit earned for research coursework
- Immersive campus experience with extracurricular academic and social events
- Networking with peers and UCSB research community

## Eligibility

High school students (typically 10th or 11th grade, exceptional 9th graders considered) with a strong academic record (minimum ~3.8 GPA) and willingness to commit to the full program.
